Evil Dead 2: Vice Press Home Video Brings Sam Raimi’s Classic Back to VHS

It seems like something is back from the dead, and not just the Deadites. Vice Press Home Video is bringing Sam Raimi’s classic 1987 horror feature, Evil Dead II, back in the VHS format, available for purchase on November 16 in the United Kingdom.

Evil Dead II gets the videocassette treatment

Since the terror began in Evil Dead II with a cursed VHS, the film getting the VHS treatment could not be more perfect. Vice Press, which creates “officially licensed, limited edition fine art movie posters,” recently launched a new line called Vice Press Home Video, aiming to give VHS releases to a slew of classic films released over the past decades. Serving as the company’s first VHS release, the Evil Dead II VHS version comes with two editions: the Collector’s Edition and the Blood Splatter Variant.

The Collector’s Edition features a double-sided cover, six postcards, and the film’s posters. On the other hand, the Blood Splatter Variant includes a cardboard slip case cover. The spooky yet nostalgic Vice Press release comes from the creative minds of Matt Ferguson, Florey, and James Bousema.

“A collaboration between Vice Press’ Matt Ferguson and James Henshaw, along with regular Vice Press collaborator and artist, Florey, Vice Press Home Video launch their first release Evil Dead II, produced and sold under license in the U.K. from StudioCanal,” reads the Vice Press Home Video’s statement (via BloodyDisgusting).

You can check out the VHS tapes and art prints below:

A combination of horror, comedy, and gore, Evil Dead II — the second of Raimi’s Evil Dead films — follows Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) and his girlfriend Linda (Denise Bixler) as they find themselves fighting against demonic entities in a secluded cabin instead of supposedly happily spending their romantic getaway.

“Evil Dead 2 continues the narrative of Ash Williams and his girlfriend Linda, following their harrowing experiences as they confront demonic forces within a remote cabin. The movie is renowned for its inventive blend of horror and slapstick comedy, combining elements of gore and violence with dark humor and over-the-top action sequences,” the synopsis reads.
